Kenworth T908: The introduction
When looking to purchase any kind of item on the market, we always refer to their features. Even before searching, we need to have a checklist of what that product should have or be capable of doing. In the trucking business, we often look for vehicles that has the power to deliver top performance all the time. We also want them to be versatile so we could use those trucks in a number of applications. We also prefer those that are generally considered affordable but still able to provide comfort, safety, and security to our drivers and operators. Finally, we want a truck that can withstand the harsh conditions in our country. You might have a few more to add but these basic prime mover necessities are the foundation to a good and successful trucking business. Well, we are in luck because there is one company that consistently manufacturers trucks that have these features. In this review, we will go through what Kenworth has in store for us in their 2010 T908 prime mover truck that makes it one of their best models.
Kenworth T908: Key features
A truck for all tasks
Because Kenworth trucks are designed to last, it’s no wonder that the T908 can deliver in a range of applications that include general freight and logging, livestock, and mining. With its road train configuration of single trailer or multi-trailer, this prime mover will surely excel and provide unrivaled performance whether it’s on the highway or the toughest outback track in even the toughest possible conditions.
Designed to perform
Power would not be an issue here because the T908 is powered by Cummins ISX EGR engine that offers up to 550hp. It also has an impressive cooling package that lessens excess fan cycle on time, in even the toughest conditions here in Australia. Incorporated in this truck as well is the unique Kenworth eight air bag AIRGLIDE 460 (AG460) rear suspension which is perfect for ride and handling across many applications which vary from white good and produce to fuel haul. For some off highway applications like mining and roadtrain, the low maintenance yet durable six-rod Kenworth KW6-60A suspension is available. Finally, standard in this truck are the drum brakes and massive fuel tanks that has a capacity of two 650L and one 530L so that what is increased is the time on the road and not the time fueling up.
Maximized comfort and safety
In this truck, a large one-piece curved windscreen is installed to increase all round visibility and excellent view of the road, but if you prefer the traditional look, you can opt for the two-piece windscreen. Plus, daylite doors with drop-down glass sections are added to provide sideways vision. These installations help decrease the chances of any form of vehicular accidents.
The driver will also have easier access to gauges and switches, without the steering wheel obstructing them, with the wraparound dash that ultimately reduces fatigue. But again, if you prefer to have your own layout, you can choose from their wide range of options. Aside from that, there is also an overhead console feature that separates dimming and gives good access to electrical switches, CD AM/FM radio, and storage compartments.
We can’t deny that some jobs are just meant to take the entire night and though we want to maximize uptime, we don’t want our drivers to feel fatigued and tired. the T908 cab is standardized with a 28 inch sleeper. Now if you wish for a different setup, you may opt for the 36 or 50 inch configurations. Integrated sleeper cabs that ride on airbag suspension can also be specified with the dealer for the ultimate comfort.

Kenworth T908: The verdict
Given everything about this prime mover, I could say that it’s definitely ideal in any kind of application. Because of its versatility, one truck can do the trick which means that there’s no need to purchase plenty of vehicles (but if you want to expand, then of course there is a need for that). It is relatively affordable so before purchasing trucks, make sure that you search websites online like the Brown and Hurley to find great deals. As I’ve mentioned before, there are basic features that a truck needs to have, and even though the 2010 T908 is not installed with the latest innovations, their standard features are excellently designed to last, to perform, and to withstand our harsh conditions here.
