Bently just unveiled its first ever diesel-powered vehicle: the Bentayga super-SUV. Per reports, it will have several segment-best features and it will be available in many markets across the globe–except for the US–well, at least for now.
As expected from a luxury car producer, the Bentayga’s 4.0L V-8 diesel engine packs a lot of power, 429 horsepower and 664 pounds of torque. It achieves the mentioned power through a two-variable-geometry twin scroll turbochargers that operate in a sequential order. This improves maximum power output without increasing turbo lag. It also has a third electric supercharger that adds rapid grunt from low rpm. With a peak torque at just 1,000 rpm, the said vehicle should perform extremely well regardless what gear is used.
Bentley also claims that the Bentayga is the fastest diesel-powered SUV in the world. In fact, it can go 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 168 mph (268 kph). To add, Bentley estimates that it utilises about 7.9 liters of fuel per 100 km, which is about 29 miles per gallon. This is pretty impressive for any SUV that is out on the market.
Aside from its exceptional on-road performance, Bentley says that the Bentayga is a very capable off-road SUV. This, thanks to its huge reserves of low-end torque, adaptive air suspension, maximum ground clearance of 9.2 inches, and many others. Plus, it has a cutting-edge terrain management, Responsive Off-road Settings, hill-descent controls, and so on.
The Bentayga Diesel is as luxurious as any car enthusiasts would expect from a Bentley. It is packed with several standard features like adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, traffic sign recognition, split folding seats, air suspension, panoramic slide/tilt sunroof, LED tail lights, and so on. And it also has luxurious interior features that is packed with a diesel-exclusive veneer finish. All in all, this prized vehicle can give consumers a sense of grandiosity and convenience that can complement their daily commuting needs.
