Just recently, CNH Industrial and Navistar Inc. confirmed the appointment of Iveco to be the sole distributor of INTERNATIONAL® trucks in the country of Australia. This announcement, then ends the rumors about which “International” would make its comeback to the said country, after Navistar unveiled the initial plans during the Brisbane Truck Show last year.
Sharing his thoughts on the latest appointment was CNH Industrial Executive Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Ray Osgood. In an interview, he said that he was extremely pleased for inking a partnership with Navistar, Inc., which is well known to be an established holding company.
“INTERNATIONAL has an incredible heritage in Australia, dominating the commercial vehicle market for several decades – there remains a lot of passion for the brand here today, and it still has a lot of equity in this market,” Mr. Osgood noted. “CNH Industrial is extremely excited at the prospect of partnering with Navistar in reintroducing the iconic INTERNATIONAL Trucks brand to Australia. Our operational experience within Iveco and the obvious synergies and history between the two brands will provide notable efficiencies as the INTERNATIONAL range is introduced in the months ahead.”
“We see the arrangement to be mutually beneficial with the INTERNATIONAL product range primarily consisting of conventional cabs, complimenting Iveco’s strength in cab-over truck models,” he added.
Navistar’s Sr. VP Distribution & Export, Mark Belisle, shared his comments as well. According to him, their company has gone through serious plannings to come up with the best action for the return of the INTERNATIONAL® in Australia. He pointed out that despite the number of years that the range weren’t sold in the country, it is still remembered by many fleet operators. Mr. Belisle as well said they they are looking forward to bringing some new and exciting ‘Inter’ vehicles to the market.
